Ingress Protection

The Ingress Protection (IP) rating is a classification system developed to rate how well a device is protected or protects against solid particles and moisture entering the device. It is generally used for rating electrical equipment. There are two parts to the Ingress Protection classification. The first number provides a rating against solid particles while the second number provides a rating against moisture.
